Nine-year-old Ryan Hickman is a successful California businessman, according to the Los Angeles Times. He does garbage sorting. He became interested in this business at the age of 3.
Today, Ryan has his own recycling company, Ryan’s Recycling Company.
For 6 years of work, sorting and sending the garbage of his customers, the boy has earned more than $10,000!
The boy is saving up for his future education, but he also says he wants to buy a full-size truck so he can become a scavenger.
It will be able to collect and recycle even more recyclables.
That’s how it all started. Once Ryan went to the recycling center with his father, the child liked the sorting process.
With interest, he began to select the bottles himself to load them into the car. For his work, the kid received a few dollars.
Getting to know the waste sorting process was so entertaining that upon returning home, he resolutely announced to his father his intention to start collecting his neighbors’ recyclables, sorting them, and giving them for recycling.
To help the boy realize his plan, his mother personally went with him to visit the neighbors. They brought garbage bags to every house.
The young entrepreneur is very passionate about his project and spends part of his week sorting bottles and cans that he receives from his supporters and sending the raw materials for recycling.
When asked about why he does this, the boy replies, “It’s because the bottles end up in the ocean and then the animals get sick and die.”
Thanks to supporters, Ryan has collected and recycled over 500,000 bottles and cans so far.
Ryan’s parents are supportive of their son’s initiative, and his father helps him sort the trash and deliver bags of bottles to the recycling center every 3 weeks.
“My wife and I support him in this, and we told our son that whenever he wants to stop, he can do it,” says the boy’s father.
In addition to his already outstanding achievements, the young hard working has already become an ambassador for the Pacific Marine Animal Rescue Center.
He also created a line of T-shirts, the proceeds of which go to charity.
In addition to earning money and altruistic inclinations, the boy does not forget about his main hobby – recycling.
He cannot just walk past a can or candy wrapper left on the ground, charging others with his own interests.
As Ryan’s story became known, it inspired more people to join his initiative to save the world.
Over the years of this campaign, people from his area have become accustomed to putting away cans and bottles for the boy.
More and more new supporters ask him to pick up their packages or even bring them to the boy’s house. And Ryan doesn’t plan to stop anytime soon.
He gives interviews and takes part in TV and radio shows to raise awareness about saving the Earth through wise waste management.
Through his actions, Ryan proves that anyone can contribute to improving the ecological situation on the planet.
