A 5-year-old boy from New York has brain cancer, but he’s not letting it stop him from living his dream. Ethan Hierro became a police officer with the Tarrytown Police Department.
The Police Chief got an email from Ethan’s school principal explaining his condition and his wish to be a cop. Ethan’s dream of being a police officer started when he was 3. He has glioblastoma, a type of brain tumor with no cure.
He’s getting treatment in Tennessee. His mom had to quit her job to take care of him and his siblings. She started a GoFundMe to help with expenses. The police department organized a special day for Ethan. They gave him a uniform, took him in a police car with sirens blaring, and even had a swearing-in ceremony with the mayor.
Ethan got to experience what it’s like to be a cop, like making arrests and answering calls. The Police Chief says it’s important to help others in your community, like they did for Ethan.
