Shona Harrison, at the age of 40, suddenly found out that she had 30 brothers and sisters since she was conceived from a donor.
As a fitness trainer with a Ph.D. in Public Health, the woman decided to learn more about her health history.
After registering on the right resources, she received a letter from her brother Stephen Bisordi. And a few years earlier he found 3 more of his brothers.
Through joint efforts, it was established that there are 30 siblings.
Their first big meeting took place in 2017 in the San Francisco Bay Area. She had 10 relatives.
Some siblings say they are not interested in dating a donor and instead prefer to focus on a new relationship with their siblings.
Harrison was conceived by a donor at 23. Her father had a genetic condition that left him blind when he was an adult, and her parents chose a donor.
“I have spent much more time with my siblings in the last couple of years than I have with many of my friends. But at some point, it will become very laborious because you will be meeting with a new brother every week.”
“At first it was a big shock, just to accept this situation. After overcoming the shock and meeting many people, it was an amazing experience,” says one of the brothers.
Bisordi says that they continue to look for new relatives, but they do it carefully – maybe not all people want to know that they have more brothers or sisters.
