In a new Instagram post, Schumer thanked everyone for their comments about her face. She mentioned that she’s been getting feedback about her looks for almost 20 years, like many women do. She admitted that her face does look puffier than normal right now, and she explained that it’s because she has a medical condition called endometriosis. This condition causes tissue similar to the lining of the uterus to grow outside the uterus, leading to pain and other symptoms.

Schumer said she’s okay despite dealing with medical and hormonal issues. She also mentioned that women shouldn’t feel the need to explain their appearance to anyone. However, she wanted to use this opportunity to encourage self-love and acceptance of one’s body.

She shared that like everyone else, she has days when she feels confident and other days when she doesn’t feel great about herself. But she feels proud of the TV show she created, wrote, starred in, and directed, and she hopes people can focus on that instead.

Schumer previously talked about her struggle with endometriosis and how it led to her having surgery to remove her uterus and appendix. She had 30 spots of endometriosis removed during the surgery, and her appendix was also affected by the condition. After the surgery, she felt like a different person and even described feeling like a new mom.
