Until recently, a black-and-white dog named Hunter with an expressive expression had a home and owners, believing that it will always be this way…
But then something unexpected happened: the pet’s owners decided they no longer wanted him and surrendered him to the Houston Humane Society’s homeless animal department.
He understood he didn’t need…
When the dog arrived at the shelter, his owners peacefully left him there, stating that they no longer wanted to care for him.
Hunter was neither ill nor violent; the owners had just gotten a new puppy and said that the dog did not like him. They turned and departed after determining that the pet did not understand anything. And Hunter… Hunter became depressed since he couldn’t express himself!
Randy Bertholet, a shelter volunteer, was the first person the dog met. It was she who was believed by a pet whose heart had been broken after being abandoned to fate.
“At first, I headed to the booth, but I didn’t see the dog there, and it wasn’t until I peeked around the corner that I noticed him,” Randy says. “He froze in fear, hoping to go unnoticed. I sat on the floor, turned away from him, and waited for him to come to me on his own. The dog approached me with dread a few minutes later.”
Hunter seems to realize that, despite having survived the betrayal, he could still trust others.
That’s why the dog approached Randy, let himself be caressed, and buried himself, as if sobbing, in her shoulder.
A ray of hope
The poignant moment of meeting the youngster was captured on camera, which she decided to share on social media.
Randy claimed she cried all night in her own bed after chatting with the dog, thinking about how sad and lonely the abandoned Hunter must have been.
But then something miraculous happened: the video became viral on the Internet, and many people were interested in the dog’s fate. Randy is confident that the dog will soon find a family and bask in the love he so richly deserves!
The girl is dismayed to learn that Hunter is not the only one who has been mistreated by the owners. People usually embrace animals without realizing that they are more than just a toy; they are a member of the family.
The owners have no idea that a loyal pet is mourning the loss of his recent home as well as the fact that he was abandoned! Betrayed for unexplained reasons!
We hope Hunter will soon find loving owners who would never treat him the way his previous owners did!
