Simon said he trusted his photos of Moya would assist with bringing issues to light of the asylum and the situation of lions in the wild.
Introducing Moya, a rare and well-known white lion with the most magnificent mane. This magnificent creature resides in South Africa’s Glen Garriff Conservation Lion Safe-Haven.
British untamed life photographer Simon Needham, who was “stunned” by Moya’s appearance whenever he first saw him, captured the six-year-old lion.
I adore animals, but when I first saw Moya’s startling coat, I was really taken aback.
‘It was difficult to get close to him, but I had a few seconds when he got close enough for me to have a few amazing opportunities as he walked around his domain.
“All things considered, at the moment you don’t really understand the worth of the perfection, but obviously, after a while, I saw what great photographs we had.”
Although white lions are extremely rare in the wild, there are a few in the preserve. Their coloring is a result of a genetic condition known as leucism, which is similar to albinism but less extreme.
Simon expressed his confidence that his photographs of Moya will help raise awareness of problems at the institution and the plight of lions in the wild.
“I think the tale is one of preservation consciousness and to showcase the serious challenges that lay in our reality where many of the most infamous species are on the verge of extinction in nature,” he continued.
If there is any way I can contribute to this, even in a small way, I value the fact that I have the choice to help.
Simon serves as a leader and a skilled photographer and gives services, offering half of the proceeds to conservation.
