In the hospital, no one visited this girl for 5 months in a row. And that’s what the nurse did

The head of nursing in Massachusetts, Lisa Smith, at the end of each working day came to the newborn, who ended up in the hospital, but no one visited her, writes Fox News.

Giselle was born 29 weeks pregnant in July 2016.

She was diagnosed with neonatal abstinence syndrome due to the fact that her birth mother used drugs during pregnancy.

The baby was born with a weight of just over 900 g. She developed oral hypersensitivity, as a result of which she refused to eat.

She spent three months in the intensive care unit. During this time, no one visited the child, with the exception of 45-year-old Smith, who herself recently found out that she could not do IVF.

Enlisting the support of family and friends, Smith decided to make life easier for Gisele, who was then 9 months old.

“When I got the call that the parents were being disenfranchised, I thought it was great news,” said Smith, who fell in love with the little girl.

On that day, I felt very sad. But I was really happy. I got her and they lost her.”

So, two years after Giselle first came under public guardianship, Smith legally became her mother.

The woman said that when the judge entered the room on the day of the adoption, October 18, 2018, he addressed her with these words:

“Usually everyone shows respect for the judge. But today I respect you, Liz because you deserve it. Giving birth is a miracle. But adopting a child is destiny. That’s what brought the two of you together.”

Giselle began to develop well under the supervision of Smith. Even though the baby is still being fed through a feeding tube, Smith helped her start eating some solid foods.

“From the moment I saw her, I felt like I could love and keep this baby safe,” Smith said.
