Julia Roberts talked to PEOPLE magazine about her favorite movies nominated for Oscars. She was at a small party hosted by Chopard at the Château Marmont in Los Angeles. They were celebrating her new jewelry collection, Chopard x Julia Roberts.
Ryan Gosling, who’s up for Best Supporting Actor, will sing a song called “I’m Just Ken” at the Academy Awards on Sunday.
Julia praised Gosling’s acting in the movie directed by Greta Gerwig called “Barbie.” She thinks his performance added a lot to the film.
Julia Roberts, who won an Oscar in 2001 for her role in “Erin Brokovich,” understands the pressure nominees feel during the Oscars. She says it’s like getting ready for a big sports event.
She also talked about dealing with mean comments on social media. There’s a viral clip from 2018 where she talked about feeling hurt by comments on a photo her niece Emma posted. People were saying mean things about her looks.
Julia was surprised the old clip got attention again. But she understands why it’s still relevant. She thinks it shows we haven’t made much progress in stopping online bullying.
At the dinner, which was on International Women’s Day, Julia raised her glass to the women there and asked the men to support women more.
