KFC in Ohio Offers Free Meals to Police Officers, Sparks Online Discussion

Some of you may have heard about the discount given to veterans. We live in a safe and lawful society because of the men and women who work in the police force.

Many people think that police officers don’t get paid enough, even though their job is one of the hardest and most important in our country.

A KFC restaurant in Ohio recently decided to join in on this idea. They put up a sign that got a lot of attention online.

Normally, no matter the time or date, the store’s policy was to let anyone in uniform eat for free. At first, they wanted to give a discount on chicken to show their appreciation to local police officers. This new policy started to get noticed online.

When the picture of this sign was posted on a Facebook page called “Ohio Going Blue,” it sparked many discussions. Even though it got over 10,000 likes and 6,000 shares, people had different opinions.

Some people wondered if it was necessary to offer free food to the police. Others said that as police officers, they would rather pay for their meals and not get special treatment. The Facebook page admins also commented:

“This is a positive post, but some of you may not see the bigger picture. As a police officer, I don’t expect anything to be free when I go into any place, whether I’m in uniform or not. There are other officers who feel the same way. We don’t like to get “special treatment.” The reason for this post is because KFC is showing appreciation for law enforcement. To those who said that other first responders should also be recognized, my answer is: YES, definitely.”

Despite getting so much attention from the media, the sign will stay in the store.

For the officers who risk their lives, let this sign be a way to salute them and show that we appreciate what they do.
