Chunk, a 3-year-old Golden Retriever, grew scared and ran out into the woods on June 6 while playing catch with his owners Marie and James Zangara. Since Chunk disappeared from his home on Sunday, his owner has done everything possible to locate him, including distributing leaflets and contacting the police.
It took more than three weeks for Ryan Koehler of the New Jersey State Police to learn that a golden retriever had been observed swimming in Barnegat Bay on the Jersey Shore and that it was in need of rescue.
He leaped into the sea as they tried to capture him. The dog was about 75 yards from the shore when the authorities used the Zodiac boat to direct the engine to it. They hoist the puppy onto a dock behind a rope house after carefully guiding it there. He had swum approximately two kilometers across the water by the time he was saved.
At the moment, Chuck was terribly [ti.re.d], looked underweight, and was on the edge of passing out.
Chunk backed away and hissed at the soldiers once they reached land. However, until the dog’s family came, they kept Chunk close by. When a member of Chuck’s family recovered from their shock, Chuck’s family was able to exhale with relief, and the dog was thrilled to see his family once again.
Three-year-old Chunk has been missing for more than two weeks. He was ecstatic to see his appreciative owners again.
Chuck will undoubtedly take a lot of lessons from this and vow never to leave his house again.
I’m very happy he made it back safely.
What a gorgeous Golden Retriever! We’re overjoyed that he was discovered to be safe! Hugs to him since he is a real survivor and we adore dogs.
