Dog without a nose: find and save!
An unusual dog roamed the streets of Kentucky. His muzzle ended only with the lower jaw! The upper one, along with the nose, was missing…
Kind people reported the little wounded Jack Russell Terrier to the volunteers of the city, and they were not slow to come. The baby was taken for examination, where it turned out that the dog had no injuries! However, there was a genetic feature that gave her such an original appearance. In other words, Mirabelle (as the girl was called) was born with such a special muzzle.
However, the purebred dog has not been homeless all these years! And no, she wasn’t thrown out on the street as a culled puppy. It turned out that the breeder kept the animal for himself … for breeding!
As a result, for 9 years, Mirabelle gave birth to puppies for the sake of the owner’s profit. It turns out that either the person did not understand that such a feature could be passed on to her children, or he purposefully wanted to “produce” a noseless breed!
In addition, outwardly normal puppies of such a mother could become carriers of a defective gene. Therefore, the act of the breeder looks extremely strange! Not to mention the fact that he kicked the pet out of the house as soon as she could not become a mother again…
Now Mirabelle needed to be treated – from a tumor of the mammary glands, an inguinal hernia, tooth decay. However, despite the health problems, the girl was in a great mood!
After FAW (Woodstock Animal Foundation) published a story about a dog on Facebook, an unknown donor transferred 6 thousand dollars to the Fund’s account! This more than paid for all the expenses for treatment, plus enough for other foster pets who needed help.
Soon, a woman named Kelly, a mother of two, approached the volunteers. She said that she and her family decided to take the extraordinary Mirabelle into their home!
“I don’t know what it was,” Kelly says. “My heart just told me so! Mira is a wonderful girl, she is not afraid of other people and animals, she loves my son and daughter very much. Although at first the children were slightly shocked by her appearance, they quickly got used to it. True, it seems to them that the dog has a runny nose all the time – so she sniffs…
By the way, the dog’s sense of smell is completely preserved! This is a fun pet that requires minimal “special” care. Periodically, Kelly’s mom brushes Mirabelle’s teeth and lubricates her gums with coconut oil, as they often dry out from contact with air. That’s all!
Now, this amazing dog is also engaged in therapy – children with special needs communicate with her. Mirabelle teaches them to stay open to the world and not be afraid to be themselves!
So, from a slaughtered old animal that served as a “puppy stamping machine”, Mirabelle turned into a beloved pet, useful not only to her family but also to those around her!
