Wendy Williams’ Niece Reveals Difficulty Understanding Talk Show Cancellation: ‘Took Some Convincing’

Wendy Williams didn’t understand at first that her talk show was canceled, her family says.

Her niece Alex Finnie explained to her that “The Wendy Williams Show” was taken off the air. “I told her, ‘The Wendy Williams Show is not on anymore. They decided to stop it,'” Finnie said.

But Wendy, who is 59 years old, didn’t believe it at first. She said, “What do you mean? Of course, I have the show,” according to Finnie. It took some time for her to realize that the show was really canceled.

“The Wendy Williams Show” was on TV for 13 seasons over 14 years, but it ended in 2022 without Wendy. Sherri Shepherd was hosting temporarily in her place. The show changed its format and is now called “Sherri.”

Recently, Wendy’s care team announced that she has a health condition called primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia (FTD). Wendy’s family didn’t know about this diagnosis because they’re not involved in her care due to an external guardianship.

There’s a documentary coming out called “Where Is Wendy Williams?” It will talk about Wendy’s life, her health issues, problems with alcohol, and money troubles. Wendy is one of the executive producers of this documentary.

The documentary is scheduled to premiere on Lifetime on Saturday at 8 p.m. and finish at the same time the next day, unless there are legal issues.
