A Bahamas resident adopts 97 dogs to help them survive the disaster

Chella Phillips, who lives in Nassau (the Bahamas’ capital), rescued 97 stray and sick dogs from Hurricane Dorian on September 1 and hid them in her apartment, according to the Daily Mail.

As a severe cyclone battered the island, the dog lover uploaded photographs shot in her apartment on her Facebook page.

In a remark, Chella Phillips, who has saved over 1000 pets in four years, posted the following.

“I have 97 dogs in my house, 79 of which are in my bedroom.”

It was insane, with trash all over the place, but at least they respected my bed and no one ventured to climb on it.

We surrounded the hideaway with barricades and left no one outside.

Music may be heard throughout the home, and the air conditioning is functional.

Perhaps we won’t suffer as much as the other islands…

… and the worst part is that certain islands will take a long time to recuperate when the storm departs the Bahamas.

Every island is teeming with homeless dogs with nowhere to hide from the hurricane, and only God can protect them now.”
