Actor Will Smith Talks About the Cost of Fame to Him and His Family

Actor Will Smith has talked about what fame cost him and his family. The star of “Men in Black” is convinced that you can’t buy happiness with money.

His daughter brought him back to reality. According to the star, he was afraid of repeating the mistakes of his father, who had mistreated the family.

“In 2010, it was the best year for me as an actor and a father. Great films were released, and I had the family I had dreamed of. I knew I had created a family better than my father did. My father abused us…I told myself that I would never have that in my family. From about 2010 to 2012, I achieved everything I had dreamed of. I exceeded my wildest dreams,” the actor says.

But even though success came, it wasn’t as rosy as it seemed.

“No one in my family was happy. My daughter Willow was the first to rebel, and that was my first realization that success and money don’t equal happiness. By that point, I really believed that you could succeed in a family and find your path to happiness,” the star said.

Will’s daughter’s protest brought the actor back to reality.

“You can have many things, but they don’t make you happy. I thought, ‘What am I losing?’ It was then that I started reading and studying psychology and its connection to human happiness. I was never unhappy; I loved life, but I treated people around me in a way that left scorched earth,” Smith said.
