And we can only thank those guys who did not pass by an unsightly creature. Their parents have something to be proud of!
The other day, teenagers from Cambridge were walking in the private sector of the city when they saw a dog in one of the dead-end streets. Or rather, at first they did not even understand what kind of animal it was! Tangled wool, behind which neither eyes nor paws are visible – it seemed that a large and very dirty skein of threads was hardly rolling along the roadside …
But the guys were not afraid of the appearance of the animal. They understood that this creature is very bad! And their good hearts prompted the right decision – they began to stroke a new friend, and some of them even took off their shirts and wrapped the dog in them so that he would not tremble.
But the baby was shaking not so much because of the cold as from stress. It was clear that someone had thrown it here, away from human eyes, not wanting to care and love. The abandoned dog could not find a place for himself and was terribly afraid of an unfamiliar environment …
The children turned out to be intelligent and contacted representatives of the RSPCA (Royal Society for the Protection of Animals). While waiting for the volunteers, they supported the dog in every possible way and even tried to feed it.
“I’m very grateful to these guys, ” says Carrie O’Riordan, RSPCA worker. – When we arrived, we didn’t have to catch the animal: the dog was already tuned in to contact, he calmed down and wagged his tail. Why do these guys even play live music for him!”
The baby was taken away to be shown to the Cromwell Veterinary Group. They found that the condition of the dog was terrible! Benji (as the new patient was named) suffered from dehydration and hunger. But most of all, his tangled “dreadlocks” caused him trouble …
A little later, the doctors began to cut the hair off the dog. It took two whole hours! The dog was even injected with painkillers and sedatives.
When it came to removing hair from the paws, the vets discovered something that no one had noticed before. Under the hanging carpet of mats were only three limbs! Unfortunately, the fur got so tangled and squeezed Benji’s front paw that he stopped his circulation. The paw shrunk and fell off …
“In all my years of work, I have never seen this,” says Carrie. “ There can be no excuse for the person who brought the pet to such a state…”
As the kilos of wool left Benji’s body, he began to look a lot like a poodle. It became easier for him to move, and he slowly tries to show his cute character. The dog is no longer young – he is about 7 years old, and at this age, changes are not easy to endure. However, everyone hopes that he will recover quickly and will be able to open his heart to a new, kinder, and more caring owner!
