Girl turned an abandoned building into a dream house

A short story was filmed about this building

In 2018,  Rachel Roberts (26) bought an abandoned building that used to be a police department.

The building cost her £180,000. It was in Scissett, UK. Rachel was well aware of the work she had to face.

The building was abandoned for several years, and local authorities had no thoughts of demolishing it. It was built in 1853. In 1969, the department moved to another city and was closed.

Rachel bought the building in its old condition. It had two cells with bars, service rooms with unnecessary papers left behind, etc.

Rachel and her boyfriend came up with a brilliant plan to renovate the whole building. It took them 2 years to transform the building into a modern and comfortable house.

In some of the rooms, the couple left the original floor. They also left some of the old details as deco elements.

Rachel left the walls untouched in one of the rooms. Soon British TV channel producers learned about this completely renovated building and contacted Rachel. They filmed a short story about the building, which helped Rachel and Michael finish the renovation.
