Olivia Rodrigo Addresses Rumors About Her Relationship with Taylor Swift and Songwriting Credits

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, the 20-year-old singer talked about rumors that she’s in a fight with her idol, Taylor Swift. This started when Taylor Swift got songwriting credit on two of Rodrigo’s songs from her album “Sour.” Some people thought the songs sounded like Taylor Swift’s work.

Rodrigo has always been a big fan of Taylor Swift and even became friends with her during the release of “Sour.” However, after the album came out in 2021, Swift and her team were given songwriting credit for two songs, “1 Step Forward, 3 Steps Back” and “Deja Vu,” because they had similarities to Swift’s songs “New Year’s Day” and “Cruel Summer.”

Now, some fans think Rodrigo and Swift are not as friendly anymore. They haven’t been seen together in public or talked to each other on social media. Swift has also become friends with another pop star, Sabrina Carpenter, who many believe Rodrigo has issues with because of a love triangle involving Joshua Bassett, which inspired Rodrigo’s song “Drivers License.”

Rodrigo said, “I don’t have problems with anyone. I’m very relaxed and keep to myself. I mainly talk to my four friends and my mom. There’s nothing to talk about.”

Some people thought Rodrigo’s new album, “Guts,” had lyrics about her problems with Swift in songs like “Vampire” (“I used to think I was smart, but you made me look so naive”) and “The Grudge” (“I try to be tough, I try to be mean, but even after all this, you’re still everything to me”).

Rodrigo mentioned that there are many rumors on Twitter, but she only pays attention to conspiracy theories about aliens.

Regarding giving up writing credit to Swift and Paramore on her songs, Rodrigo said she was surprised at first and felt a bit confused. She was new to the music industry and didn’t have much experience with these situations. She also mentioned that the decisions about songwriting credits were made by teams, so she wasn’t directly involved in those discussions.
