One day Nurse Michelle Smith, Animal Control Officer in Anderson, South Carolina, USA, received a telephone message about a barking dog at the bottom of a steep ravine. Immediately after receiving the call, the woman went to the scene.
She climbed down the steep embankment and found a Shih Tzu dog entangled among the branches of a thorny bush. But looking more closely, the woman realized that the dog was not alone. It turned out that she protected and guarded a tiny kitten who ate dog milk!
Michelle decided that the dog found this kitten by the stream and deliberately went down the embankment after him, hearing him meow, but did not or could not get up with him.
This explains why the couple was in such an uncomfortable place. Someone probably just threw out the kitten, or even worse – they wanted to drown it.
Michelle took the animals to her Organization, where the dog continued to take care of her adopted kitten, caring for and cleaning him like a mother.
The dog was named Goldie, and the kitten was named Kate.
And one day this couple was taken to a loving family!
“This is one example of why I love my job,” Smith wrote in her report.
But the most amazing thing in this story is the results of the examination of the dog, which showed that she never had her own puppies!
