The tiniest pygmy possum which was once considered to be extinct has been discovered again recently

The lack of information about these animals for many years led to the assumption that they had disappeared a long time ago.

The smallest of its species, which was formerly believed to be extinct, is the pygmy possum.

When a devastating forest fire broke out and over 90% of the island was burned, the small animal was once again discovered.

Wildfires in Australia severely harmed biodiversity and claimed approximately three billion lives.

Many species were thought to have vanished forever, but the finding of these creatures showed that the inverse is also possible.

The Island’s Conservation group discovered them.

On the island, 113 pygmy possum sightings have been reported, despite the fact that they are elusive and weigh only 0.35 ounces.

Since there had been no information on these creatures for a very long period, it was thought that they had vanished, but the rescuers were really moved by their meeting.

Despite the fact that these fires mostly devastated the environment, the search efforts enabled the discovery and rescue of animals that had been neglected and long thought to be extinct.

Because many animal species saw unburned vegetation as their last refuge, it was crucial.
