A moving tale occurred in India in 2015. A herd of elephants went through the Chatra region, near Ranchi. It came as little surprise to the villagers, who are used to seeing such animals.
Six dozen wild creatures crossed the border, but one elephant battled them all off. And that seemed odd because elephants live in herds, rear young together, and always stay together.
The elephant was not only left alone but also displayed unusual behavior. She dug the earth with her trunk with zeal. This did not surprise anyone at first because elephants are used to digging. However, the female has been digging for 11 hours in a row, all night.
Because her skin is robust and thick, it retains moisture effectively, she was not threatened by dehydration. However, hunger plainly plagued the animal, which requires around 150 kg of food every day. However, the elephant had forgotten about food. She was exhausted, although she didn’t stop.
A big audience gathered to see the show. Everyone was aware that something was wrong, but no one dared to act. First, elephants may be violent when protecting themselves or perceiving threats. Second, even delicacies were ineffective in attracting the attention of a wild beast.
Jitendra Tiwari, one of the males, was the most daring. He approached the elephant and noticed what the beast was digging up. A tiny elephant was the aim. He fell into an abandoned well by mistake and became stranded, unable to escape on his own.
The starving elephant collapsed on the ground because of impotence, but then stood up. She dashed towards a neighboring truck loaded with bananas.
At that moment, eyewitnesses walked to the well and decided to put the devised plan into action. They didn’t touch the baby elephant so their mother wouldn’t smell them. The sand was scraped off the edge because the elephant poured it on the cub with its trunk, exacerbating the situation.
The food was removed once the upper half of the well was released, and the elephant hurried back to the cub. She grasped him with a strong trunk, made repeated jerks, and eventually managed to pull the infant out of the ditch. He was dirty and terrified.
Mother and kid hugged each other with their trunks interlaced. They were overjoyed at the amazing rescue and reunion. The courageous mother and cub ventured into the forest to rejoin the herd and continue their adventure.
