Often, to understand that a person is lying, you just need to look at his face. But if the liar manages to control his facial expressions, then you have to pay close attention to the discrepancy between the details in the story.
Sunday night, the detective was returning from the country club. Suddenly, the headlights of his car illuminated a car standing right in the middle of the road. The detective had to brake to avoid an accident.
He turned the steering wheel sharply and felt the wheels of the car burst. Having miraculously leveled off, the detective stopped on the side of the road to catch his breath. Suddenly, three men jumped out of the roadside bushes, they demanded that the detective give them all their money. After that, they jumped into a car parked in the middle of the road and sped away.
Having recovered a little, the detective got out of the car and lit the lantern. Then he saw a scattering of small spikes that the robbers scattered, and they became the culprits of the tire puncture. Leaving his car, the detective walked along the road and soon saw a small farm standing near the highway.
He rang the doorbell, and a young guy, the farmer’s son, opened it. The detective told him:
“I’m sorry, but I need your help. I was attacked and robbed about five kilometers from your farm. In addition, I punctured the tires of my car …- Come on in! – answered the young man, – I will immediately call the city.
A few minutes later he returned.
“Mr. Detective, I called the police. I also called the nearest auto repair shop, they will bring you new tires.”
Half an hour later, the police arrived, and with them an auto repair worker with new tires. The detective looked at them and turned to the worker:
“Yes, that’s exactly what you need. A little later I will show you the place where my car was left.”
After that, the detective told the police everything and asked them to arrest the farmer’s son for participating in the robbery. Why did the detective decide that the young man was somehow involved in the crime?

The detective said nothing about the model of his car to the farmer’s son. However, he ordered exactly those tires that were needed. So, he is either a member of a gang of robbers or their gunner. Living near the road, he could see that every Sunday the detective returned to town at about the same time, and tell his buddies about it.
