Dog found wandering streets of Detroit with stuffed animal gets rescued

After her owner left her, Nikki wandered the streets with only her favorite toy to keep her company.

A German Shepherd was discovered alone and exploring the streets of Detroit with nothing except her beloved stuffed bear for company. It was a devastating sight. Locals observed the dog prowling the streets and, despite the fact that she is a female, they nicknamed her “Nicholas,” according to FOX 2 Detroit. According to neighbors, the dog lost its owner when he passed away.

As word of the dog’s need spread, several community organizations banded together to catch the animal and transport it to safety. These organizations included It Is Pawzable Dog Training, South Lyon Murphy Lost Animal Recovery, Sugar Mutts Dog Grooming, and Almost Home Animal Rescue. Owner of It Is Pawzable Katrina Weaver told FOX 2 that “everyone comes together and works as a team, which is so amazing.”

However, after being saved, this lovely puppy is now secure. Almost Home No Kill Rescue announced on May 3 that the dog had been successfully captured and was currently in their care, therefore their rescue effort was a success. Given that “Nicholas” is a female dog, they changed his name to “Nikki.” The rescue said on Facebook, “Only good things from here and onto a better life!” Nikki will soon enter a loving home thanks to all of your help, the statement read.

Nikki is supposedly suffering from heartworm, which calls for a four-week treatment period. Nikki is now resting, taking medicine, and getting leash walks.

After her recovery, the rescue will start looking for a new place for her to live. Nikki is currently in good hands, and she is still carrying her cherished stuffy. We’re so happy that this lovely puppy and her cherished stuffed bear are finally secure.

I wish Nikki a speedy recovery and a happy new home!
